Mom just died in June not knowing Miss Flora had passed on, and it brings me so much joy to know Miss Flora was there at the pearly gates to welcome my Mom! Besides Jesus and a few family members, there is no one else my Mom would have loved to see being her into glory.
Miss Flora was a supporter of the arts in Elizabeth City. She came to nearly every show I was in and was so supportive. I miss her presence at church and will always miss her smile and positive outlook.

Flora Johnson Robinson, age 106, of Elizabeth City, NC died peacefully Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at her residence. Flora, a native of Elizabeth City, was born September 17, 1914 to the late Stephen Harry Johnson and Ida Flora Johnson. Flora was married to the late Charles Oakley Robinson, Jr., for over fifty-five years. She graduated from St. Mary’s School in Raleigh, NC in 1933 and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1935.
Noticed your mother’s obituary in the online Outer Banks newspaper. She lived to a ripe age and her picture looked like a happy lady. Ms. Flora was made from the “good stuff”…proving that by living to the age of 106. She will be missed by so many and always be remembered by our community.

Eleanor Roosevelt gave the commencement speech at her graduation. Flora was a lifetime member of Christ Episcopal Church where she served faithfully in several capacities. She was also a long-time volunteer with the Albemarle Hospital Auxiliary where she volunteered for fifty years. At 106 years of age, Flora was alert and vibrant until the end of her life. What a jewel and how lucky am I to have been graced with her sweet presence with such a gracious attitude ! Always a positive but, also wondering why she has been so blessed? I think I know her secret…Always be kind to others. You couldn’t ask to be around such a nicer person. We so enjoyed our visits with her, and she would send us a hand-written thank you note.
